Ironman Pocono Mountains Coming 2011

In case any of you missed it, Pennsylvania will get it’s own Ironman 70.3 event in 2011; Ironman Pocono Mountains. General entry for the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Pocono Mountains will open at 10 AM on Friday, October 1, 2010. It should be a great way to cap off the 2011 season! First race for 2011 is confirmed!

I spent last week in Germany for work. Luckily, my wife pulled through and got me registered for the Columbia Triathlon in 2011. That’s just one more reason to love her. As soon as I started triathlon training this race stood out to me. First, because of the relative proximity of the race to me. Columbia is about an hour drive from Harrisburg, PA. A big race, this close always seemed cool. Also, knowing the top level talent that shows up year after year for this race was another huge draw. For some reason a race always feels different when you know there are pro’s and Olympians on the same course. Sure, I’ll probably never see them, but it’s still cool. Of course, the thing I’m looking forward to the most with this race is the support. I’ve read so many articles talking about the great triathlon community in Columbia. It will be great to have a bunch of people there cheering me on, especially when I start to drag on the run. I’m definitely looking forward to the support. 

The other thing that’s great about being registered is that now I officially have my first goal for next year. I always seem to do better when I know I have something I’m working toward. This should be a great race. I’m already looking forward to May 2011! Thanks wife!!!
